A quiet town nestled in the Japanese Alps and a UNESCO world heritage area: Takayama & Shirakawago

I'd definitely come back to Takayama again and I'm already planning when to head back 😂😂😂 The Ryokan experience was really exceptional and anyone should have it on their first trip to Japan for sure! Takayama can also be accessed from Tokyo and Nagoya through a direct bus from Shinjuku and a direct train and bus service respectively. It was a really good idea to just do a day trip to Shirakawago as its really out of the way and just an hour from Takayama but still worth a visit. Nonetheless, there are a handful of hotels in Shirakawago but there aren't too many amenities around the area. As a whole, this was really the highlight of the trip as I really treasured the peace and serenity of Takayama.
