The Swapo Party Regional Coordinator for ||Kharas Region, Mathew Mumbala, has reminded party members that unity and camaraderie must prevail within the party. He said this during the opening of the party's regional executive meeting held in Keetmanshoop. The regional coordinator also instructed all districts that need to renew their mandates to do so promptly and in line with the party constitution. "No individual interest should delay the collective process. Leaders and general members alike hold equal rights, though with differing responsibilities. Leaders, we must not be bosses. We are equal to those other members who have no positions. The difference is only the responsibility, and we need to fulfil those responsibilities with respect and dignity." Moreover, Mumbala called on the party's representatives elected in last year's Local Authorities and Regional Councils elections to collaborate in solving challenges hampering socio-economic development. "Let us avoid unnecessary conflicts that end up in courts, for such disputes drain our energy and resources. Instead, let us embrace dialogues and consultation and the spirit of comradeship." Expressing concern over alleged misappropriation within local authorities, including Keetmanshoop, Oranjemund and Karasburg, and the ||Kharas Regional Council over the past five years, Mumbala called on the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, to conduct financial audits in these institutions' books. Also speaking at the official opening of the regional executive meeting was the party's Central Committee member Gaudentia Kröhne. "Comrades, let us use this meeting constructively to engage openly, exchange ideas and strengthen our organisational work. Our people expect leadership, solutions and unity from us. We must therefore continue to work together in a spirit of solidarity and collective responsibility. You know, when you are elected as a leader in a section, branch, district, region, central committee, political bureau, minister, or deputy minister – you can name it. The electorate is expecting service deliveries. What they wanted was to change their living conditions."
