The OHV ride through the Hualapai Mountains on the rough and rugged Moss Wash Trail was an adventurous, albeit frustrating, endeavor. The trail twisted and turned, with sharp rocks and deep ruts making progress difficult. Despite the challenging terrain, the anticipation of reaching the Gold King Mine and Gold King Mansion kept spirits high, though we soon found that the path was not as forgiving as we had hoped. Every turn seemed to bring a new obstacle: loose gravel, steep inclines, and unexpected washouts. Our attempts to navigate further were thwarted by the brutal conditions of the trail, forcing us to turn back without reaching our destination. The journey, though unsuccessful, was a testament to the raw beauty and unforgiving nature of the Hualapai Mountains. The Gold King Mine and Gold King Mansion have a rich history tied to the area’s mining boom in the late 19th century. The mine, established in the 1880s, was part of a larger network of silver and gold mining operations that helped fuel the economic growth of the region. The Gold King Mine itself was known for its high-quality ore and attracted many miners and investors eager to cash in on the riches of the mountains. Along with the mine, the Gold King Mansion was built by one of the mine’s wealthy owners, serving as both a residence and a symbol of prosperity in a time of great wealth and ambition. However, like many mining ventures of the era, the Gold King Mine's operations eventually dwindled, and the mansion fell into disrepair, leaving behind only traces of its former grandeur. Today, the site remains a relic of the past, with its history woven into the rugged landscape of the Hualapai Mountains. OHV Ride Hualapai Mountains, Gold King Mine & Mansion! We Travel in our Renegade Classic, Super C, towing a 24’ Trailer with the Jeep and Honda Pioneer SxS. Trail riding and exploring is a passion we both enjoy, we also love Kayaking, Zip-lining, visiting museums, etc. And being able to bring my mom with us and my 3 dogs makes it a fun trip. RV Life Fulltime Lifestyle! Travel! RV Couple! Big Truck! Travel Style: We travel with 3 small dogs and my mother so boondocking and roughing it isn't something that we do. We aren't fancy and we don't need RV Resorts although sometimes we do stay in them. Typically we are looking for convienient places where all 75' of our RV and Trailer will fit. If there is a casino near buy and UTV Trails so much the better. We camped on weekends when we worked and retired as early as we could get it all worked out so we could travel this country. Technically we aren't "full-time" we go home (Florida) in the Winter and then hit the trails 6+/- months per year just depending on what our needs are. We share our experiences for a couple reasons, these are our "home movies" we will one day look back at and also to make friends on the road. We wish we had a group of trail riding partners but unfortunately we don't so if you see us we would love to meet you and if you have a SxS we would love to trail ride with you.
