South Africa Now | 28 March 2026 In today’s update, severe weather, road incidents, travel disruptions and lifestyle moments are captured from across the country. In the Western Cape, severe storms are reported in Matjiesrivier outside Oudtshoorn, with flooding along the Matjies River and the closure of Meiringspoort due to rising water levels. Scenic and lifestyle highlights include a sunrise in Kalk Bay, beach views from Mossel Bay and Struisbaai, as well as a sunset boat cruise and hot air balloon experience in Cape Town. Visitors also enjoy cultural dining at Gold Restaurant and wildlife sightings at Aquila Game Reserve near Touws River. In KwaZulu-Natal, a multi-vehicle collision is reported at the R33 and R34 intersection, while a truck is seen on fire on the N3 Durban-bound near Petroport. Rain is also recorded in New Germany, with coastal views from Umhlanga Rocks. In Mpumalanga, heavy rain is reported in Nelspruit, along with severe weather conditions in Volksrust. In Gauteng, lifestyle and travel scenes include ice skating at The Grove Mall in Pretoria East, a sunset in Moreleta Park, a drive along the R21 highway in Kempton Park and public transport views onboard the Gautrain. Additional scenic views are captured in Kosmos along the R42 between Nigel and Heidelberg. In the Northern Cape, iconic landmarks and city views include the Kimberley Diamond Mine and surrounding areas. In the North West, rain is reported in Klerksdorp. Wildlife and nature moments are also featured from Mabula Game Lodge in the Waterberg region, while aviation scenes include a FlySafair aircraft landing at Cape Town International Airport.
