↓ ENGLISH SUBTITLES IN DESCRIPTION BOX ↓ Hello & Welcome To United Cooking! Today, I will be showing you how to make traditional kimchi from scratch! This is such a healthy but flavorful recipe. This is a step-by-step tutorial, to help with your understanding! Loaded with exotic veggies and flavorful seasoning, Kimchi is a must-try! Ingredients:2 3 Pound Napa Cabbage 1 Cup Water (For Soaking Cabbage) 3 Tablespoons Glutinous Rice Flour/Sweet White Rice Flour 1 Cup Water (For Rice Paste) 2 Tablespoons Sugar 1/4 Cup Fish Sauce 1 Medium Carrot 1 Medium Onion 1 Cup Radish 3/4 Cup Korean Red Chili Powder 2 Inch Ginger 8 Cloves Garlic 6 Green Onions 1/3 Cup Kosher Salt ↓ ENGLISH SUBTITLES ↓ 1) Cut a whole cabbage into 4 different wedges. Then, cut 1 inches pieces from those wedges. 2) Next, we will be making saltwater for the cabbage to soak in. To do so, mix 1/3 Cup of Kosher Salt with 1 Cup of Water till dissolved. 3) Add the saltwater into a bowl with the cabbage. Mix thoroughly. Let it soak for 2 hours in the saltwater. Every 30 minutes, mix together. 4) While we wait, let's make the rice paste. To do so, add 1 Cup Water and 3 Tablespoons of Glutinous Rice Flour. Mix Together with no lumps forming. On Medium Heat, let it boil. After it starts boiling, keep on mixing until the sauce is thick. When it is thick, add 2 Tablespoons sugar and mix to apple sauce consistency. Once it is at this point, turn off the heat and let the rice paste completely cool down. 5) Cut the 1 medium carrot into Julienne pieces (thin strips). Cut the 1 cup radish the same way. Cut 6 green onions. Cut 1 Medium Onion into small pieces. Cut 2 Inches of ginger into small pieces. Cut 8 cloves of garlic into small pieces. 6) After 2 hours of the cabbage soaking, rinse it 3 times through cold water. After 3 times of rinsing, drain excess water well. 7) Add 1/4 Cup of Fish Sauce and onion, ginger, garlic to a blender. Grind to a fine paste. 8) Add this sauce, the rice paste, and 3/4 Cup Korean Red Chili Powder to a big bowl. Mix Together. Add the carrot, green onion,, and radish to the bowl. Mix together. Add the drained cabbage to the bowl and mix together gently. 9) Your Kimchi Is Ready! For storage, transfer into an air tight jar and ferment for 1 day at room temperature. After 1 day, you can store it in the fridge. These ingredients can be bought in most Chinese grocery stores. I hope you enjoyed watching this video.
