BGP Route Reflectors introduce an effective way to overcome the limitations of the iBGP full mesh peering that is required within an autonomous system. However, when we use Route Reflectors, we are bypassing another important rule that iBGP uses: The iBGP split horizon rule, a rule used to prevent routing loops. For this reason, we need another mechanism to prevent routing loops, and that's where the Originator ID comes in. In this video, we'll explore the Originator ID attribute that is exchanged between iBGP routers and how it helps to prevent routing loops in a Route Reflector environment. ☑️ Chapter list: ============================================ 00:00 Introduction 00:13 iBGP RRs Bypass the split horizon rule 01:15 The Originator ID is a BGP Attribute 02:13 What is the Originator ID? 06:14 Multiple Route Reflectors 07:30 Practical Example 08:54 Summary 🟩 Related Videos and Links: =============================================== Video: BGP - Why does BGP require an IGP to function? - • Why does BGP require an IGP to function?
