When answering priority nursing care questions, keep the ABCs in mind! A → 🫁A patent airway is always the first priority for a patient (except during CPR) -Is there an airway obstruction? Does the patient need an artificial airway/intubation? Without a patent airway, they’re unable to breathe…which brings us to priority #2 B → 🌬️Breathing is the 2nd highest priority Does the patient have trouble breathing or are they unable to exchange air properly? C → 🫀Circulation is the 3rd highest priority Is the patient circulating and perfusing blood adequately? Are they hemodynamically stable?
