Then these patients they present with lot of diarrhea or they can come with constipation, abdominal pain or not able to eat. But this is a medical emergency. Once this is the case, what we do is we do an x-ray abdomen and sometimes when they are not diagnosed, we do a limited endoscopy to see the rectum and we diagnose whether there is an ulcerative colitis. In that case we give iv antibiotics, and sometimes we use steroids and that doesn’t work, a small percentage of patients, we may have to resort to surgery. #inflammatoryboweldisease #ulcerativecolitis #diarrhea
