Chinatown, Japantown, Little Saigon ALL IN ONE!!!!!

After visiting the southern most Chinatown in California, we flew up to the Pacific Northwest to check Seattle's Chinatown. The area is known as the Seattle Chinatown-International District, as there's also a Japantown and a Little Saigon here! Shortly after arriving in California in the 1850s, the Chinese eventually settled in the Pacific Northwest as they were able to find work as miners and general labors. The original Chinatown in Seattle was built by the waters, but was destroyed by the Great Seattle Fire of 1889. The Chinese community faced many obstacles such as the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 and the Seattle riot of 1886. Chinatown today is still an active Chinese community, featuring local shops that cater to the locals and tourists (like us Chinatown enthusiasts). The Japanese started settling next to Chinatown shortly after. In 1942, the Executive Order 9066 forced the Japanese into "Relocation Camps" (or concentration camps) due to the country's conflict with Japan during WW2. As a result, Japantown is no longer the once active Japanese community it was once. To escape political persecution after the fall of Saigon, many Southern Vietnamese refugees fled to the US, and the ones that ended up in Seattle found a home next to Chinatown/Japantown.
