Organ Pipe National Monument is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve created in 1976 for the conservation of its unique resources and the pristine Sonoran Desert ecosystem. It is also home to Quitobaquito Springs, an oasis hosting two endangered species, the Sonoyta Pupfish and the Sonoyta mud turtle. Despite the rare animals and the wild and beautiful landscape, the Trump administration is building a wall through the reserve. Construction requires the pumping of millions of gallons of water, risking the viability of Quitobaquito Springs, an ancient water source for the indigenous Hia C -ed O'odham.
