Praying mantis Mantis lie in ambush or patiently stalk their prey.They use their front legs to snare their prey with reflexes so quick that they are difficult to see with our naked eye. A praying mantis can catch other insects with its front legs.The front legs are lined with spikes and close in a certain way to have a firm grip on the prey. A mantis has a mobile head that can turn around like humans can,large eyes,large front legs to grab prey and four legs meant for walking. Mantis have enormous appetites eating various aphids,leaf hoppers,mosquitoes,caterpillars,beetles,grasshoppers,crickets,etc. Some times they hunt on frogs,lizards and small birds etc. Tiger beetle Tiger beetles are voracious predators of small arthropods .Tiger beetle is the fastest bug.It can run at the speed of 5 miles per hour.Tiger beetle can run so fast that it blinds itself. As well as speed,Tiger beetles are equipped with some serious weaponry.They have enormous jaws for their size,which are used for crushing and cutting prey.Their mandibles are like long curved swords. A Tiger beetle runs down its prey and catch it with its fearsome mandibles. Assassin bug Mouths of Assassin bugs are designed for piercing and sucking of juices from the victims body.They have a beak composed of 3 segments and a single tube through which the Assassin bug transfers its poisonous saliva.
