$2.3 MILLION BACKCOUNTRY CABIN... NO SHOWER??

This $2.3 million backcountry cabin is called the Kees and Claire Hut. $400,000 of the total cost was just helicoptering the building materials to the off-grid hut location. Located near Whistler, Canada the Kees and Claire Hut provides a four-season overnight shelter for backcountry hikers and skiers near Russet Lake on the Spearhead Traverse. The Kees and Claire backcountry hut accommodates up to 38 travellers and four custodians. The hut includes beds, storage areas for travel equipment, dining areas, and kitchens with propane cooktops. The highly-sustainable facility is funded through public fundraising, with volunteers providing the majority of the labour. It was such a special experience having this BC backcountry cabin all to ourselves. We show you what it's like to visit the Spearhead Traverse in almost summertime weather.
