Until recently, like many other NHS trusts, University Hospital Birmingham rented a number of storage facilities to archive patient files with support from third-party storage suppliers. As well as costing the taxpayer storage and management fees, this arcane process was error-prone, difficult to manage and slow-moving. Following a competitive process, the Director of Warehousing and Logistics, Dave Lightening (UHB) and his team named Industore as their preferred supplier, tasked with modernising and improving their service provision. Today, a brand new facility hosts six Hanel Lean-Lifts, each 10 metres tall, facilitating a much more cost-effective, accurate service for millions of patients in what is one of the largest Trusts in the UK.
