40 Indians killed in Kuwait fire incident, IAF on standby for repatriation of bodies

At least 49 people, mostly Indians, were killed on Wednesday after a fire broke out in a building housing foreign workers in Kuwait. Reports suggest as many as 40 Indians have lost their lives in the incident, and 24 of them were from Kerala state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately held a review meeting in New Delhi and called the fire mishap saddening. The PM also announced ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased Indian nationals from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
