Built between 1565 and 1572 by his widow, Empress Bega Begum, it is a stunning example of Mughal architecture. The tomb is notable for its Persian-inspired design, featuring a large central dome, expansive gardens, and a symmetrical layout, often considered a precursor to the Taj Mahal. Constructed with red sandstone and white marble, it is set within a Charbagh (four-part) garden, symbolizing paradise in Islamic tradition. Humayun's Tomb was the first garden tomb on the Indian subcontinent and influenced later Mughal tombs. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.
