Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas Grilled Over Border Crisis | EWTN News Nightly

The crisis at America's borders continues. Last year, at the Southern border, there were more than 2 and a half million illegal migrant crossings and more are expected this year, with the end of Title 42. Today, the Homeland Security Secretary was grilled about what his department plans to do. Before the Senate hearing with Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson said more than 5 million people have crossed illegally during the Biden Administration, including many on the terrorist watch list. He said, "Put that into perspective, 28 states have a population less than 5.3 million people, 28 states. That is the magnitude of the problem in the first several years of the Biden Administration. It's an abject failure." Senator Johnson called on Secretary Mayorkas to resign. Ranking Republican Senator Rand Paul went further, accusing the department of abusing its power. Secretary Mayorkas reiterated that the border is closed and claims the current system of forcing migrants seeking asylum to check in with countries they pass through is working, but Republican Senators disagree and say the numbers don't lie, and with the end of Title 42, it's going to get worse.
