“COLTAN” is a mineral ore that contains tantalum and niobium, essential for making electronics such as phones, laptops, medical devices, and aerospace components. It is primarily mined in Central Africa and is often referred to as a conflict mineral because its extraction can fund violence, exploitation, and the unfair sale of Africa’s natural resources at unreasonable prices. “COLTAN” was produced by me and my younger brother, DJ Gelson Gelson Official. The track combines both of our musical styles and sounds. It contains no lyrics, but it carries deep meaning — a reflection of our identity as Africans, and a message about the immense value, wealth, and power that our continent holds.
