Dr. David Harkins, DO, FAOAO joined Athens Orthopedic Clinic (AOC) in 2011 when his practice, Providence Orthopedics, merged with AOC. Dr. Harkins is is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. He is fellowship-trained in shoulder and elbow surgery, and he specializes in shoulder, upper extremity, and reconstructive surgery as well as fracture and degenerative care. Dr. Harkins completed his orthopedic residency at St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri in 2004. Des Peres Hospital has been recognized as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Bariatrics, Orthopedics and Patient Safety by the national Women’s Choice Award program. In 2005, Dr. Harkins completed his fellowship at the W.B. Carrell Memorial Clinic/ Baylor University Hospital. He currently serves on the Continuing Medical Education Planning Committee for the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO) and served as President/AOAO Shoulder and Elbow Section during 2017-2018
