Not only did I get to race against Barry Hawk at the US Sprint Enduro, but I also had the chance to interview him afterward to find out why he’s such a better racer than me. Some people shy away from reflecting on defeat—but I’d rather learn from it! ⚡🛑 Utility Can Caddy 🛑⚡https://shop.seattime.co/products/uti... Barry shared what he picked up when European legends Juha Salminen and David Knight came over to race GNCC. He noticed they were faster because they took different lines—what he calls “European lines”—while he was sticking to more traditional “American lines,” like I still do. It was a killer breakdown of racing perspective from 20 years ago that still echoes in conversations with Texas ISDE racers like Brian Storrie and the O’Leary Brothers. We also dug into two key riding topics: patience on the bike and off-camber turns. Barry admitted that even now, he has to remind himself to back it down and ride smoother in sketchy sections to avoid mistakes. His take on off-camber turns really helped me better understand the interaction between rider and bike. I’m still not excited to see them, but I’m definitely less intimidated now.
