Live Acrylic Tutorial with Ginger Cook Get your brushes ready! Join the "Gold Standard" of acrylic painting, Ginger Cook, for a fun, step-by-step live painting lesson. 🎨 ABOUT THIS LESSON: Paint a charming French country church surrounded by glowing lavender fields in this step‑by‑step acrylic lesson with Ginger Cook. In this impressionistic landscape, you’ll see how to turn a busy photo into a calm, inviting painting by simplifying clouds, background details, and the lavender rows so your church becomes the true star of the scene. You’ll learn how to: Plan your painting in clear “chapters” so you always know what comes next. Mix a natural sky blue (not a harsh “Kodak” blue) using phthalo blue, ultramarine, and raw umber, then add soft, warm clouds with buff titanium, zinc white, and cad orange. Create depth with atmospheric perspective by layering ultramarine blue, magenta, and zinc white to push distant hills back into a hazy distance. Block in a sunlit church using warm lights (white + yellow ochre/buff titanium) and cool violet‑blue shadows so the building feels solid and three‑dimensional. Mix rich greens from ultramarine, cad yellow, and burnt umber for trees and bushes, building from dark shadow shapes up to sunny highlights. Build a convincing lavender field: start with a dark violet “sea,” then add rows of broken color, path shapes, and sparkling highlights using dioxazine purple, magenta, rose, and light tints. Use matte medium and zinc white to control glare, extend blending time, soften edges, and create misty glazes without chalkiness. This tutorial is perfect for late beginners to intermediate acrylic painters who want to loosen up, think more like an artist than a camera, and practice layering, color mixing, and impressionistic brushwork. Grab your paints, download the traceable if you like, and paint along as Ginger shows you how to create your own “Church on Lavender Hill” masterpiece. In this live broadcast, we will be tackling a beautiful new subject in acrylics. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, you will learn techniques for color mixing, brushwork, and composition. Paint colors used in this lesson From the palette discussion and later color mixing: Titanium white Zinc white Buff titanium (or mix: white + yellow ochre + tiny burnt umber) Cadmium yellow light Cadmium yellow medium (“cad yellow jello medium”) Raw sienna (optional, not essential in final image) Yellow ochre Cadmium orange Pyrrole red Cadmium red light Magenta Dioxazine (Dazzling) purple Ultramarine blue Phthalo blue Burnt umber Raw umber Rose/Pueblo Rose (used as “color surprise” in the lavender highlights) 🗓️ WHEN WE GO LIVE: We broadcast live on YouTube!
