We're back in our favourite seaside town Scarborough for a look around the South Bay from the Luna Park and Harbour to the amusements, cafes, restaurants, shops and hotels there (the Grand Hotel Scarborough being the main one!) Scarborough South Bay is known for its classic seaside atmosphere, offering a blend of traditional amusements and natural beauty. Historically, the South Bay was the original site of the early medieval settlement and the harbour, which now forms the Old Town district. This area has remained a focal point for tourism, drawing visitors with its sandy beach and various entertainment options. The main tourist attractions in Scarborough South Bay include the beach itself, which is popular for families and offers activities like sandcastle building and donkey rides, particularly during the warmer months. Backing the beach is a promenade lined with amusement arcades, offering a range of games and entertainment. You'll also find numerous cafes, restaurants, and traditional seaside stalls selling everything from ice cream to fish and chips. The harbour in South Bay is a significant feature, home to fishing trawlers and recreational boats. From here, visitors can take boat trips around the bay or even experience a speedboat ride. Overlooking the South Bay is the Scarborough Spa, a grand Victorian building that hosts various events, and the historic Scarborough Castle, perched on the headland offering panoramic views.
