populAir is the brand name for Amapola Flyg's passenger operations. With a fleet of seven Fokker 50 aircraft, the airline flies to various towns in Sweden from its Stockholm Arlanda base, as well as to Mariehamn and Turku (Finland). Join me as I fly with them to Lycksele; a town just below the Arctic Circle with around 8500 inhabitants. This was my first-ever Fokker 50 flight, and my first flight on a Fokker aircraft since 2022, when I flew Carpatair on behalf of airBaltic on a Fokker 100. Needless to say, it was a great experience! The engines had a nice buzz to them, and it was interesting (albeit perhaps not surprising considering the aircraft's age) to see that the seats were equipped with ashtrays. Aside from that, the cabin was well-maintained, the steward very friendly, and the inflight service, while nothing special, was satisfactory for a relatively short flight on a regional airline. Basically, it was the same as on SAS, with complimentary coffee & tea and Buy-on-Board for everything else (although on SAS, you do also get a glass of water free of charge).
