Clements Saddle / Many Glacier

The weather wasn't on our side but we were determined to try and climb Mount Oberlin. So we got up early enough to reach Logan Pass before daybreak. We got to see a black bear along the way but it was obviously too dark to get video of it as we drove past. Once it was light enough to start hiking, we headed off into the clouds. The moisture in the air made visibility very limited. The cameras don't like it either. Once and a while we would get a view. I was expecting to see Mountain Goats and Bighorn Sheep but saw none. Maybe if we made it to the top(and the clouds went away). We ended up stopping at the saddle under Clements Mountain. I did play around a little on the scramble up Oberlin, but it was easy to get turned around being surrounded by a fog. With lots more to do throughout the day, we decided to head back down past the snow patches. One even looked like a skull. After a stop at St. Mary Village for lunch, and shopping, we made our way up to the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park. We had a boat tour scheduled so we didn't need to book the hiker shuttle. The road was rough do to the construction but quite manageable in the Jeep. We hung around the Many Glacier Lodge for a bit then started our tour. You first take a boat across Swiftcurrent Lake. This is followed by a short hike to Lake Josephine where you board another boat. It makes it's way out to a point you can see The Salamander Glacier before returning back to the dock. You then make the little hike back to the first boat which takes you back to the lodge. The boat rides were very scenic and surrounded by huge mountains. I really like the color of the second lake. We were also able to spot a few birds, including a bald eagle. Then came the hike I was most excited for. There was a bit of a detour involved, but the plan was to hike out to Redrock Falls on the far side of Redrock Lake. Seeing the falls wasn't really our goal. We chose this out and back hike because it passes by Fishercap Lake, a known spot to find Moose. The first time by we found deer and several birds, but on the way back.... We Found A Moose! and that wasn't the biggest highlight of the trail. We finally got to see goats, though they were high up on a ridge. That's not cooler than a moose in a lake, but the short tailed weasel was!!! On the way back down the trail we came across a dead chipmunk. It wasn't there on our way out. While we were feeling sorry for it and planning to move it off the trail, something very small started moving quickly in the bushes. We thought it was another chipmunk at first until it stuck its long neck out onto the trail for the first time. This was a top memory for both my wife and I from this vacation. We didn't even know what animal we were seeing until we looked it up. It was amazing how this small little thing picked up the chipmunk and ran off with it. We couldn't stop talking about it. To cap off the night we ate at the Swiss Lounge. Was a long eventful day. *note this is not shown entirely in order. *also due to rain there are gaps in the footage
