ACTU Secretary Sally McManus says violence at a protest outside a union office in Melbourne was led by "violent anti-vaxxer extremists". It comes as hundreds of construction workers and members, dressed in high-vis and maskless, gathered on Elizabeth St in the city on Monday morning calling on the union to stand up for the workforce against mandatory vaccinations. Ms McManus said this was not the first time "anti-vax" proponents have targeted unions. "They've also been targeting unions now for months – we've seen this not just in Victoria but elsewhere," she told Sky News Australia. "It is absolutely disgusting that a union office was attacked like that and we know that's because they want us to come on their side in terms of being anti-vax. "And we're just not going to be intimidated by that violence – we're going to stand up for the safety of everyone and the best way for our community to be safe is for people to be vaccinated."
