Amrozi, Ali Gufron and Imam Samudra and several hundred fellow inmates held prayers on a field outside their prison on Wednesday to mark the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr. Then they spoke briefly to reporters in what are expected to be their last public comments before facing execution. The men said the Oct. 12, 2002, twin nightclub attacks that killed 202 people were meant to punish the United States and its allies. Most of those killed were foreign tourists, especially Australians. Samudra said "I don't have, and will never have, regrets." The others agreed. The militants have exhausted their appeals against their sentences. Indonesia's attorney general has said the sentence could be carried out any day now that the holy month of Ramadan, when clemency is often shown to criminals, is over. Journalists were allowed into the prison to see the militants in a facility organised by the Indonesian Justice ministry and were escorted by security guards during the visit.
