This is a slideshow of a few photos taken in Washington, DC during the great Blizzard of 1966, outside the Armed Forces Police Detachment station (located on the Washington Navy Yard). (continued) Although it lasted for several days, the blizzard peaked around January 31, 1966. These pictures were taken at Armed Forces Police on the grounds of the Washington Navy Yard, at the east end of the Yard near 11th Street, in southeast D.C. The river in the background is the Anacostia River. The audio includes short clips from three top-rated Washington AM radio stations of that time - WEAM (Arlington, VA), WPGC (Morningside, MD), and WOL (Washington, DC). (On these clips, only a sample of the music is included, to respect music owners' copyrights. This unfortunately does detract from the quality of the recording, for which I apologize.)
