Mysore Dasara 2018 Gajapayana Welcome of Dasara Elephants to Mysore Palace Mysore tourism Karnataka tourism. Gajapayana, the traditional march of elephants from the forest, begins at Veeranahosahalli Gate of the Nagarahole National Park in Hunsur taluk ,signalling the beginning of Dasara 2018. The first batch of five elephants comprised of Howdah Elephant 58-year-old Arjuna from Balle Elephant Camp, 62-year-old Varalakshmi from Mathigodu and 45-year-old Vikrama, 35-year-old Dhananjaya and 36-year-old Gopi from Dubare Elephant Camp. After the traditional start of Gajapayana, the elephants begin their journey to Mysuru. The elephants are then received at the Mysore Palace with a grand welcome with traditional folk dance , music and pooja. The public is welcome to view the traditional welcome . The rehearsal of the Jumbo Savari begins from this day after till the final jumbo savari on Dasara day. Mysuru Dasara draws huge national and international crowd.
