Solo overnight backpacking trip on Pennsylvania’s stunning West Rim Trail – also known as the Grand Canyon of PA. I hiked northbound, starting at dawn, and knocked out 18 miles on day one, reaching a gorgeous vista campsite by mid-afternoon. The weather was perfect – highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s – making for an incredible hike and relaxing evening. I enjoyed dinner, my pipe, and the peaceful view before day two’s final push to some of the best vistas in the state.
