In this 15-minute video, I attempt to express in images and music (and some text) what I think and feel about the major achievements and legacies of the most significant cultural figures of the Renaissance -- with special focuses on High Renaissance geniuses Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo -- including the literary renaissance that culminated in the genius of William Shakespeare and the neoclassical revival in music that culminated in the genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. My aspiration is to immerse you in an experience of Renaissance culture that I hope you find inspirational. I've written extensively about the Renaissance on Substack at: https://mikegoodenowweber.substack.com/ I dedicate this video to the living genius whose music has meant the most to me in life - the writer and singer of dozens of songs that have deepened my awareness and made me a better person - and who is inspiring us all as he gifts us with great new songs well into his seventies. I dedicate this video to Peter Gabriel. Concept, Curation, Editing: Mike Goodenow Weber Visual Sources: Public domain images sourced from Wikimedia Commons. All interpretive images created using OpenAI Art, generated through original prompts by the filmmaker as a contemporary artistic meditation on Generation X. Music: Original instrumental composition for all songs - based on songs composed between 1350 and the early 1800s -- was generated using Suno AI Prompted and curated by Mike Goodenow Weber. (All music used in accordance with Suno’s creator license) Historical Note: Historical photographs used in this film are drawn heavily from the public domain. The use of all images is covered under uses for educational purposes. Portraits and other images that are AI-generated are clearly presented as contemporary interpretive works, not historical representations.
