[Anchor Lead] Lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo of the minor Bareunmirae Party has declared a run for Seoul mayor in the June local elections, the outcome of which may determine the very survival of his newly-formed party. The ruling Democratic Party and the main opposition Liberty Korea Party blasted Ahn's decision to run as quickly as he announced it. [Pkg] Ahn Cheol-soo, who is the chief of membership recruitment in the minor opposition Bareunmirae Party, will run for position of Seoul mayor, his second bid in 7 years. Announcing the bid, he called himself a leading face of the opposition camp and stressed an opposition lawmaker must become the mayor of Seoul in order to check the government. He called for change and innovation. [Soundbite] Ahn Cheol-soo(Bareunmirae Party) : "I will reform this nation full of incompetence and hypocrisy, starting with the city of Seoul." The ruling Democratic Party and the main opposition Liberty Korea Party immediately fired back saying Ahn is an unprepared candidate who has nothing new to offer. The ruling party expressed confidence in its candidate for Seoul mayor, saying a competitive person will be elected through a runoff vote. But it is also on guard against a possible opposition coalition. The main opposition LKP meanwhile said that Ahn Cheol-soo's claim that he represents the opposition camp is far fetched. The party stressed it is the LKP that can face off with the ruling party in the June election.
