A slice of land nav fun and close combat in the dim light of dawn on D-Day Minus 1. [MB][AIRBORNE] D-Day -1 [CAMPAIGN START] Operation Description: The invasion of occupied Europe is finally upon us. At approximately 0200 on this, the morning of June 6th, 1944, the men of the U.S. 82nd Airborne Division will be dropped onto the Cherbourg Peninsula in France. At the strategic level, the division is tasked with occupying the town of Sainte-Mère-Église which sits firmly in the middle of Route N13, a vital roadway that German forces will have to utilize if they are to launch a counterattack on the main landing forces that are set to arrive later this morning. Following our initial landing, our platoon will regroup and strike several lesser targets in the vicinity of our drop zone before moving to rendezvous with other elements of our regiment for the main attack on Sainte-Mère-Église. "... You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you." The following roles will be confirmed in the operation: Airborne Platoon Command Element Airborne Infantry Squad (x2) Airborne Pathfinders Team (x1) The following roles will be activated based on surplus player count: Airborne Infantry Squad (x1) Airborne Pathfinders Team (x1) The following equipment will be utilized during the operation: U.S. Airborne small arms (M1 Garand, M1A1 Carbine, M1A1 Thompson, M1918A2, etc) C-47 Skytrain Victory Condition: Four or more of the listed secondary objectives must be completed. Primary Objective 1: Regroup with other elements of your platoon following the parajump Primary Objective 2: Cause sufficient havoc in the local area to distract German forces Primary Objective 3: Break contact, and move towards the regiment's rendezvous point Secondary Objective 1: Clear out anti-aircraft positions in the vicinity of the platoon's landing zone, and destroy the guns Secondary Objective 2: Search & destroy artillery positions in the local area Secondary Objective 3: Locate the local ammunition dump, and destroy it Secondary Objective 4: Destroy the local radio installation Other objectives may appear during the operation.
