This week, I'm still sticking to the 80s, but this video has a small twist. I wanted to play my own version of the song, including the bass solo. Coincidentally, the groove is not that far off what was on the original recording, but it's just different enough for you to go 'ah, I see what he went for'. More than anything, I just wanted solid playing here, so I was intentionally very reserved with fills and other stylistic elements. For the solo, I felt like going with something completely different when comparing to the original recording. I'm a huge fan of using space when improvising something, to let ideas breathe.
