Sri Rama was born to Kaushalya and Sri Dasharatha, the ruler of the Kingdom of Kosala and his siblings are Sri Lakshmana, Sri Bharata and Sri Shatrughna. Sri Rama showed us dharma and dharmic living as a righteous path to follow and live in this world. Sri Moola Rama, Sri Digvijaya Rama and Sri Jaya Rama prathima’s are part of daily Samasthana Puja of Sri Rayara Matha Parampara at Mantralayam. Sri Moola Rama Prathima was made by Vishwakarma as ordained by Chathurmukha Brahma for the purpose of daily Pooja. After worshipping them for a long time, Chathurmukha Brahma handed over to Jabalamuni for the benefit of the world. They were then worshipped by Shiva and Parvathi, who handed them over to Dakshaprajeshwara. Saint Soubhari worshipped these idols which once again reched to Sathyaloka. Vyvaswan then earned these idols through penance from whom they reached the hands of his son Vyvaswatha Manu. King Ikshvaku of Surya dynastymade this idols as his kuladevathas. Then Sri Dasharatha worshipped them with great devotion.He named his eldest son Rama after that name of the idol which became known as “Moolarama” from then onwards. During Dwaparayuga, Sri Hanumantha gave these idols to Bhimasena and was worshipped by Pandavas. Pandavas and all the rulers upto Kshemaka worshipped these idols before they reached the treasury of Gajapathi, the Kalinga ruler. These prathimas were got through Sri Narahari Theertharu from the Kalinga Treasury and worshipped by Sri Madhwacharyaru. They are popularly known as “Chaturyugamurthis”.
