How does a doctor evading a malpractice lawsuit, providing fake addresses, with an expired license in one state get credentialed to perform surgery in another? Michael McKee is charged with four counts of aggravated murder in the December 30th shooting deaths of his ex-wife Monique Tepe and her husband Dr. Spencer Tepe in Columbus, Ohio. But for eleven days after the alleged killings, McKee remained on staff as a vascular surgeon at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois. He went to work. He potentially operated on patients. And nobody knew. The evidence against McKee is substantial—ballistic analysis allegedly links a firearm from his property to shell casings at the crime scene, surveillance footage reportedly captured his vehicle arriving before the murders and leaving shortly after, and Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant has called this a "targeted" and "domestic violence related attack." Monique and Spencer were found dead in their home while their two young children, ages four and one, were discovered unharmed inside. McKee's medical license in Nevada had expired in June 2025. Court records show he was added to a malpractice lawsuit just months before the killings. Yet he was credentialed to operate in Illinois. In this episode, we dig into the systemic failures that allowed McKee to slip through—and how many other problem doctors are doing the same thing right now. We expose the National Practitioner Data Bank, a database created by Congress specifically to catch doctors like McKee that the public can't access and many state boards don't bother to check. Over 500 doctors disciplined in one state are practicing elsewhere with clean records. More than 250 who surrendered licenses are operating in new states with zero consequences. They call it "passing the trash" in education. In medicine, there's no equivalent reform. No accountability. Just a system designed to protect physician mobility over patient safety. #MichaelMcKee #MoniqueTepe #SpencerTepe #TepeMurders #MedicalMalpractice #StateMedicalBoard #ColumbusOhio #PatientSafety #AggravatedMurder #HiddenKillers Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video?
