The Thucydides Trap: A Lesson for Today's World

History tells us that whenever there's a declining power and a rising power, the tendency for those two powers to collide and get into war is not to be underestimated. That tendency is called the Thucydides's Trap. Since the 16th century, there have been about 16 Thucydidean scenarios where the 12 of them went on and escalated into wars. Fast forward to today's context, the conversations between the US and China need to be cleverly managed and every nation should play a role in helping the cause so that the China and the US situation does not get any worse than what it is today.
