In this video we take a look at the new Revopoint Trackit 3D scanner. A great new innovation in the 3D scanning industry that utilises a handheld scanner and a fixed tracking head. This combination allows for fast and accurate scanning without the need for markers for global location. This greatly improves the quality of the scan and also the efficiency with which it can be done. This scanner can undertake a range of different scanning modes. It can scan all surface types including dark, shiny or reflective surfaces without the need for scanning spray. It can scan large and small items very accurately without introducing creep or cumulative errors due to the location of the hand held element by the tracking head. The tracking head can also allow for movement of the scanned part during the scan allowing all surfaces to be scanned in one single operation. Here I am 3D scanning a Shorrock Supercharger and an inlet manifold. Once I have the scan data I can insert these files into the 3D model for my boats engine. I can then use these files to place the components and design various elements that will work alongside them. Here I am using Fusion to model the intake transfer pipe between the supercharger and the inlet manifold by taking the geometry off the mating faces between the two parts. This represents a great use of 3D scan data and how we can use it in a modern design setting. #revopoint #3dscanner #Trackit #3Dmodelling #3dscanning Chapters: 0:00 Intro 2:07 Setup and calibration 5:02 3D scanning and editing 11:03 Using files in CAD 13:10 Summary and other features
