We’re moving from delivering static physical hardware to combining hardware resources into a fluid pool which can be used to build any configuration necessary, then decomposed and recomposed to meet the next need. At Hewlett Packard Enterprise, our Oneview converged infrastructure management platform delivers composable infrastructure, allowing customers to define, provision and change their on-premise infrastructure via RESTful API supporting integration with new providers. Combining Oneview’s APIs with Terraform providers gives us the best of both worlds – speed and ease of use combined with the Oneview composable pool of compute, storage and fabric resources to drive the software defined data center for on-premise hardware. The idea to create a custom workflow combining Terraform providers with the Oneview SDK began with a brainstorm while using Terraform to create classroom machines, took a few convoluted paths but ultimately delivered a great experience.
