Rödhamn was an important stopping place since the Middle Ages and thousands of ships managed to anchor there over the centuries waiting for better weather. Most obviously, in 1758, a Tavern was founded on the island of Gloskär in the Rödhamn island group. It offered not only drink and food but also accommodation until the 20th century. The successful Tavern lost its customers as the ships got engines and no longer needed a waiting place. Tavern shut down in 1930. Almost a hundred years later, the groove has been recovered.
