The Flatiron Building is a 22-story, 285-foot (86.9-meter) tall steel triangular structure located at 175 Fifth Avenue in the Flatiron district of Manhattan, New York City. Designed by Daniel Burnham and Frederick P. Dinkelberg, the building, sometimes referred to as “Burnham’s Folly,” is a Beaux Arts-inspired, Perpendicular Renaissance Revival palatial building that opened in 1902. The building sits on a triangular plot formed by Fifth Avenue, Broadway, and East 22nd Street (where the building’s 87-foot (27-meter) rear end is located), with East 23rd Street bordering the northern (uptown) end of the triangle. The name “Flatiron” comes from its triangular shape, which evokes the shape of a cast iron flatiron. This MOC was designed by alpha.x.brix. This custom-designed model combines architectural realism with unmatched modular building detail. Standing nearly 32 inches tall, weighing 30lbs and built from over 15,000 pieces this MOC will enhance any city skyline.
