VENICE, Calif. — Wednesday, October 22, 2025 — A coordinated multi-agency cleanup operation took place Wednesday morning along Venice Beach, part of the City of Los Angeles’ ongoing efforts to maintain sanitation, safety, and accessibility in public spaces. The effort was led by the Department of Public Works in collaboration with Los Angeles Police Department officers, Environmental Compliance Inspectors (E.C.I.), the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), and staff from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office. Absent from this operation were the Los Angeles Park Rangers and Clean Harbors Environmental Services, which often participate in similar cleanups. Advance cleanup notices had been posted prior to the operation. Environmental Compliance Inspectors engaged with several individuals camping near the boardwalk, advising them to move temporarily so crews could clear the area. Inspectors informed them to leave any trash behind for collection and disposal. Hazmat specialists and Environmental Compliance Inspectors sorted through discarded materials, identifying and safely removing hazardous waste such as batteries and aerosol cans, while Public Works teams cleared trash and bulky debris from sidewalks and public walkways. Toward the end of the operation, police units were called away to respond to an emergency, prompting an early conclusion to the cleanup. Representatives from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office observed inter-agency coordination, while LAHSA outreach workers distributed hygiene kits, bottled water, and information on available housing and support services. No arrests or citations were issued during the cleanup. — Santa Monica Closeup documents public events of local significance across the Westside, including homelessness outreach, law enforcement activity, and coastal cleanup operations — #VeniceBeach #Homelessness #Cleanup #PublicSafety #LAPD #LawEnforcement #CityOfLosAngeles #CoastalCleanup #CopWatch — 𝗖𝗢𝗣𝗬𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗘 This video is protected by copyright and provided for personal viewing only.
