It’s the time to explore the southern most part of India – Kanyakumari. Though situated at Tamil Nadu, it is more approachable during your Kerala trip. If you go directly from Kolkata to Kanyakumari by train , your option is to take either Gurudev Express or Kanyakumari Superfast Express, the journey time will be somewhat between 42 to 45 hrs. the nearest airport is Thiruvanthapuram , at a distance of around 90 km. we entered Kanyakumari from Kovalam , the distance was around 80 km. After covering all the places in Kovalam , we reached Kanyakumari in the evening and at first we went to the Sunset View Point and enjoyed the magnificient view of sunset. Next we went to the famous Kanyakumari Annan Temple and experienced the thrill of this 3000 yrs old Temple. Thereafter we checked in our hotel. On the next day morning first we reached the point from where the launch starts towards the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. This 10 minutes launch Journey through the Indian Ocean is really extremely thrilling. The beauty of Vivekananda Rock and adjacent Thiruvalluvar Statue is really mesmarizing. There is a connecting glass bridge between these two structures, which was opened in December, 2024. Swami Vivekananda went here in 1892 and meditated here for 3 days before going to Chicago. This famous Vivekananda Rock Memorial was built in 1970 and the adjacent Thiruvalluvar Statue (133 ft in height) was built in 2000. And the adjoining glass bridge was built in 2024. After covering all these places we took our return launch and after that headed towards Rameshwaram, at a distance of around 310 km.
