There are as many ways to do polyamory as there are people doing it! 💜 I am solo poly. That means I practice polyamory in a way that I do not intend to be part of a couple and I don’t follow the relationship escalator. It doesn’t mean that my relationships aren’t as deep or meaningful as other relationships; it just means that I don’t want to hit relationship markers like living with a partner or having kids. Monogamous culture really pushes for these "relationship markers." As your relationship gets more serious, you're expected to take different actions. And if you don’t want to follow that foundation, you get painted as someone who doesn’t want to commit, or you don’t want anything deeper than casual. That couldn’t be further from the truth! Solo poly folks want meaningful and significant partnerships, and they can successfully build those relationships, too. Just because a relationship might not make sense or look “normal” to you, it doesn’t mean it’s not valid.
