"When I wrote Better, I was in a state of complete isolation. In 2021 I was living alone in a small desert town near Coachella Valley. It was in the middle of nowhere. There would be weeks where I wouldn’t go anywhere and I wouldn’t see anyone. It was a strange time for me. I always thought maybe if I had more social interaction I would feel better and not turn into the recluse that I was becoming. Making music was difficult, but it was all I spent my time doing. When I heard the vocal for Better it felt oddly relatable to my situation. The feeling of having company and not being alone. Having someone there by your side. Anyone, for that matter. I liked being alone, but I didn’t realize it was damaging my psyche. Humans are social beings. We crave that connection with another person. I was living in a desolate space with no one to turn to."
