Full catch video available of the fight available at: • INSANE! Kayak World Record Slow Pitch Jigg... This is a short video showing the gear used to catch this Kayak World Record Dogtooth Tuna. It also shows some never published before footage of the weighing of the fish. Although the fish was as massive as the video shows, the weighing happened about six hours after the catch, affecting the total weight due to blood loss and dehydration. It is important to mention that the fish could not have been caught and released as the survival rate would have been less than 1% after a two-hour battle. Also, the barometric pressures experienced by the fish from 700 feet depth caused significant barotrauma and the fish exhibited this as soon as it surfaced belly up. Despite the IGFA's technicalities, this fish is still considered a Kayak World Record for this species as well as a Guam Record. This fish was caught and landed without any assistance, making it an even more incredible and significant catch for the kayak community. Feel free to post your comments, questions, and opinions and let us know if you think that the IGFA rules are somewhat biased against kayak anglers who risk it all when catching and landing fish that takes a crew of two to four to land from a boat.
