Single leg exercise tutorial for Box Squats, Pistol Squats, and Skater Squats. Join me as I run through the techniques, cues, and transitions to get your first full out skater squat or pistol squat. I personally am working on mostly unilateral (and low-to-bodyweight) exercises to focus on correcting muscle imbalances between the right and left sides of my body. Single leg exercises are excellent for correcting imbalances in the body. *NOTE FOR END OF VIDEO: when I mention ‘sticking my back out’ in the right lower back I am referring to the lack of muscle there that would lead to me OVER arching my lower back. ‘Sticking out my low back’ means posterior pelvic tilting so my back lays flat/neutral to start building up muscle strength in the erector spinae (especially my right side). AVOID OVER ROUNDING THE LOW BACK in a pistol squat. Some rounding at the bottom (butt winking) is okay. My personal goal is to keep a neutral back throughout the whole range of motion.
