Hi everyone! We're back on the normal publishing schedule. Time for a brand new video. And this time no surprise. This week lots of you voted to see a night + morning ride between Hoofddorp - Schiphol and Utrecht vv. So here it is! Warning ahead: in really dark situations the camera does not see much. The human eye of course sees a lot more. VIRM does not have a bright beam light. So sometimes the tracks won't even be visible. One of the main reason I normally don't record at night. But now on many requests here one for you! 0:00 Hoofddorp Opstel We start with an empty train early in the morning at Hoofddorp Opstel. This train is needed for rush hour between Utrecht and Rotterdam. Therefor we must bring it to Utrecht. But without passengers. So enjoy the non-stop ride! We depart a few minutes late due to a very busy morning on the tracks ahead. 3:07 Hoofddorp 4:29 Schipholtunnel Inside the tunnel we must slow down because the train that was just running ahead of us on the other track is a little ahead of schedule. Therefor the computer system at the train dispatchers gives that train a path into Schiphol earlier than planned. The train dispatcher sees this and creates another path for us through the station. 6:52 Schiphol Airport After changing tracks behind the station we can continue on full speed. 10:22 Riekerpolder aansluiting 10:36 Schinkelbrug 11:43 Amsterdam Zuid Enjoy passing through Amsterdam Zuid without a stopover. 12:54 Amsterdam RAI 14:17 Duivendrecht aansluiting West 15:46 Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA Bijlmer ArenA on almost full speed. Always from coming from Amsterdam Zuid! 15:57 Amsterdam Holendrecht 17:13 Province Border Welcome in the Province of Utrecht! 17:35 Abcoude + Rien Nouwen Aquaduct 23:19 Breukelen A few kilometers ago we starting coasting already because we're back on schedule. Trains can coast for a really long time due to low friction between the wheels and the tracks. 26:26 Maarssen 29:09 Werkspoorbrug 30:50 Utrecht Zuilen Just before Utrecht we must slow down because there's a Sprinter on our track in Utrecht with 2 minutes delay. Now you can also see why coasting is so important. Good for the energy use but also so we won't arrive early. 33:31 Utrecht Centraal After taking it easy for a short time we arrive in Utrecht. But don't say goodbye yet. I have a ride back with passengers on board as well in this video! Let's change trains! 35:15 Utrecht Centraal Welcome on board the intercity from Utrecht to Schiphol Airport. Now a little more light. Still not the perfect conditions for the camera. But still I think you'll like the ride! Let's get this train towards Schiphol shall we? 37:54 Utrecht Zuilen 38:34 Demka Spoorbrug Much better sight on the Demka Spoorbrug with a little extra light. 40:29 Maarssen 42:40 Breukelen 47:52 Rien Nouwen Aquaduct + Abcoude Diving under water here. And right after Abcoude we'll be entering the Province of Noord-Holland again. 48:39 Province Border 49:30 Amsterdam Holendrecht 50:19 Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA First stop on our route. Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA. Many offices in this area and of course also the Amsterdam Stadium. 52:35 ATB Track Failure Just after departure the ATB shows the wrong speed on the speedometer. Because of that we must drive on sight until our train passes the next main light signal. And after that we contact the train dispatcher of course. 55:15 Duivendrecht aansluiting West Small delay now. Will we make it on time to Amsterdam Zuid? 56:25 Amsterdam RAI 57:20 Amsterdam Zuid With a speedy arrival at the station we make it just in time! 1:00:20 Schinkelbrug 1:00:54 Riekerpolder aansluiting 1:02:37 Schipholtunnel 1:03:49 Schiphol Airport After arrival at the airport the train is being emptied by the train manager. After the doors are shut we can continue with our empty train towards the shunting yard Hoofddorp Opstel. 1:10:04 Hoofddorp 1:11:03 Hoofddorp Opstel Two minutes ahead of schedule we arrive at the final stop for our video.
