JM Smucker, the Northeast Ohio-based Fortune 500 company, is about to get a lot bigger. Monday, the company announced they're purchasing popular snack company Hostess for $5.6 billion dollars. Smucker leadership said they're "excited" to add the iconic snacking brand to their repertoire, with Hostess being known for popular treats like Twinkies, Ding Dongs, and HoHos. Smucker is headquartered in the small town of Orrville in Wayne County. 3 News asked Orville Mayor Dave Handwerk what he thinks of the big deal. "We're very happy for Smucker," he said. "We're always glad to see them make a successful purchase like that." The company is world-famous for their jellies, and ownership of brands Jif peanut butter and Folgers coffee.
