He bought this car after seeing it in the Ford display at the 1939 World's Fair and it has been. with the family ever since. The photos are of Bill on his wedding day in 1944, and of his daughter Linda (the current owner!) in 1947. Original price: $1,439 MORE MILEAGE Despite his brilliance in bringing affordable transportation to America, Henry Ford was never known for his sense of automotive style. Fortunately, his son Edsel did have a sense of style and brought his ideas to the more streamlined Ford products of the mid to late 1930s. Lincoln, the prestige line for Ford since 1922, brought out the stylish Zephyr in 1936 as a less expensive Lincoln. By 1940, the top-of-the-line Model K was gone and the Lincoln line included the sleek Zephyrs and the confident Continentals. Styled by famed designer John Tjaarda of the Briggs Body Corporation and refined by the great Ford stylist, Bob Gregorie, the Zephyr was an excellent example of the Art Deco-inspired streamlining so popular in 1930s designs.
