Chorkor Oven: Changing the Lives of Women in Fish Smoking in the Niger Delta; Gloria Ezekiel’s Story
Gloria Ezekiel is a fish smoker in a riverine community, Ogunigbene, in Bayelsa State who has been processing fish for about 8 years using the traditional smoking technology. However, since her adoption of the Chorkor Oven, an appropriate technology for fish smoking, she has made a tremendous decrease in production costs by using less firewood to smoke the fishes and she is able to smoke even more volumes of fishes using the same number of woods in a shorter time period compared to the traditional smoking technology. Here is her testimonial story.
