Getting Scaler setup in Studio One for recording and driving external instruments can have a few gotchas, so this video walks beginners through a few tips and tricks. [NOTE] - My apologies. While reviewing the final video, I realized that my screen capture did not pick up some of the application windows and dropdowns generated by Scaler and Studio One. The ones I noticed in Scaler were the Artists Chords collection, the Instruments collection and the right click on Scaler Logo to access Clear State. In Studio One it was several of the right click menus such as the Event menu. I hope that this does not cause anyone confusion. If you have any questions, please drop them in the comments. 13:48 Configuring External Instruments The vid went longer than I intended so here is a quick cheat sheet to setup Scaler to drive external instruments: 1) Drag Scaler onto a track 2) Drag the bottom edge of the track to expand the height and display the 4 settings fields 3) Drag ext. instrument onto another track and expand to see the 4 settings fields 4) In the settings of the track for the ext. instrument , set the 2nd field (Instrument Input) to Scaler 5) On the ext. Instrument track Enable the Monitor icon (the one that looks a speaker) You should now hear the external instrument. If you have an instrument selected in Scaler, you will hear that instrument as well. You can set that instrument to the Off instrument or experiment with layered sounds
